SexyCombo 2.0.7 released

I have just released new version of SexyCombo jQuery plugin. This release was very productive. I have fixed all (I hope) bugs related to IE6. dropUp config option is now deprecated, the plugin can determine whether option list should go down or up automatically. Some minor changes related to usability were also made.

Really nice plugin. But I have a question. How it will handle the very large dropdowns? I.e. 2k-5k options, because this is my worst fear - to use such plugin and for large dropdowns to take ages to process the page.

Otherwise nice job indeed!

Am I missing something? Shouldn't a combo box allow you to enter things that aren't on the list (otherwise it's just an autocomplete)? When I try the first example on the demos page and type in "District of Columbia", then when I hit tab it changes to "Delaware". I'm using Firefox 3.5.1 on OS X 10.5.7.

i'm thinking a combobox should allow selection if it exists and the option to enter a value that does not exists.

Function to find input text anywhere in the string ignoring periods and spaces.

filterFn: function (a,b) {
if (a.search("Select")==0) {
return true;
}
else {
a=a.replace(eval("/\\./gi"),"");
a=a.replace(eval("/ /"),"");
b=b.replace(eval("/ /"),"");
b=b.replace(eval("/\\./gi"),"");

if (((b.toLowerCase()).search(a.toLowerCase()))!=(-1)) { return true; }
else { return false; }
}
